Testimonials

My mother's tiles were old and ugly, as she has been living in the same house her entire life without ever really taking care of her tiles. I called Tile Cleaners to get advice on what to do with them. They came to her house the next day to have a look at my mum's tiles. I am very satisfied with how patient and highly professional you were with my mother. I am sorry I couldn't be there when you arrived, and I am really impressed by how you managed to explain everything to my mom and help her out. Thank you for doing a great job.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs » Sealing Tiles

  • Q: What type of sealer should I use for my tiles?
  • A: That depends on the type of tile you have and the intended use.

Other FAQs :

  • Q: Can all types of tiles be sealed?
  • A: If your tile is ceramic or porcelain, it probably won't need to be sealed. There are some exceptions, so check with your manufacturer to be sure. If your tile is stone (slate, marble, granite, travertine, etc.) then it will need to be sealed. Stone is naturally porous and will absorb spills and stain fairly easily.
    • Q: How messy are the processes? Will you damage my walls or skirting boards?
    • A: Tile Cleaners Sydney® prefer to use high quality non-solvent based stripping and sealing products. These products are not messy and won't damage your floors or anything else in your home. Current non-solvent based strippers and techniques are more than adequate. Tile Cleaners Sydney® technicians can apply solvent based strippers in very specific circumstances, however this requires leaving the premises for up to 48 hours and a very high level of safety and protection.
      • Q: How long does the sealer last?
      • A: This depends on the type of sealer you decide to seal your tiles with. Topical sealers usually have a lifetime of around 3 years, while impregnating sealers have a lifetime of up to 15 years. On vertical surfaces impregnating sealers could last a lifetime, however, on heavy walkway areas or heavily used areas such as shower recesses, the areas should be checked more often and re-sealed if necessary. You can test how porous your surfaces are by applying a drop of water to the surface and watching how it is absorbed. You can then see how any type of water based stain can be absorbed by the surface.
